TEC Approvals & MTCTE Certification
Mandatory testing and certification of telecom equipment under TEC/DoT — the gateway to India's telecom market.
◇ Overview
What this is
The Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC), under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), regulates telecom equipment standards in India.
Under the MTCTE (Mandatory Testing & Certification of Telecom Equipment) scheme, all telecom and ICT products must be tested and certified before import, sale, or use in India.
Compliance is mandatory under Indian Telegraph Rules, 2017 — ensuring product safety, quality, performance and seamless network integration while avoiding penalties and customs rejection.
